A tidal disruption event coincident with a high-energy neutrino

چکیده

Cosmic neutrinos provide a unique window into the otherwise hidden mechanism of particle acceleration in astrophysical objects. The IceCube Collaboration recently reported likely association one high-energy neutrino with flare from relativistic jet an active galaxy pointed towards Earth. However combined analysis many similar galaxies revealed no excess broader population, leaving vast majority cosmic flux unexplained. Here we present radio-emitting tidal disruption event, AT2019dsg, second neutrino. AT2019dsg was identified as part our systematic search for optical counterparts to Zwicky Transient Facility. probability finding any coincident event by chance is 0.5%, while bright bolometric energy 0.2%. Our electromagnetic observations can be explained through multizone model, radio revealing central engine, embedded UV photosphere, that powers extended synchrotron-emitting outflow. This provides ideal site petaelectronvolt production. Assuming genuine, suggest events mildly outflows contribute flux. probably associated neutrino, suggesting such emission terms photosphere and

RX J 1420 . 4 + 5334 – another tidal disruption event ? ?

We have discovered a transient X-ray source, RX J1420.4+5334, which displays a ROSAT flux variation of > ∼ 150 between the ROSAT All-Sky-Survey in 1990 and a preceding pointed ROSAT observations in July 1990. Optical observations suggest a non-active galaxy as the only visible counterpart. We therefore tentatively identify RX J1420.4+5334 as a tidal disruption event in a non-active galaxy.

A Tidal Disruption Event in a Nearby Galaxy Hosting an Intermediate Mass Black Hole

We report the serendipitous discovery of a bright point source flare in the Abell cluster A1795 with archival EUVE and Chandra observations. Assuming the EUVE emission is associated with the Chandra source, the X-ray 0.5–7 keV flux declined by a factor of ∼2300 over a time span of 6 yr, following a power-law decay with index ∼2.44 ± 0.40. The Chandra data alone vary by a factor of ∼20. The spec...

iPTF16fnl: A Faint and Fast Tidal Disruption Event in an E+A Galaxy

We present ground-based and Swift observations of iPTF16fnl, a likely tidal disruption event (TDE) discovered by the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (iPTF) survey at 66.6 Mpc. The lightcurve of the object peaked at absolute Mg = −17.2 mag. The maximum bolometric luminosity (from optical and UV) was Lp ' (1.0 ± 0.15)× 10 erg s−1, an order of magnitude fainter than any other optical TDE di...

High Energy Neutrino Astrophysics

Since early this century it has been known that a steady stream of charged nuclei, and to a lesser extent electrons and photons, reaches the Earth. The origin of the cosmic radiation, however, has not be explained satisfactorily. Finding an answer to this apparently simple question is complicated by the fact that extensive knowledge of several physical disciplines is required for an appropriate...
